Dartmouth's First Senior Society

1783
Started in 1783, The Society of Social Friends "Socials" maintained a student-funded and -managed library, circulating holdings to its members only.

Hopkins Center for the Arts Opens

1962
A renowned multi-disciplinary academic, visual and performing arts center, the Hop was designed by Wallace Harrison, the architect of Lincoln Center.

Coeducation

1972
Women had been coming to campus through exchanges in the years leading up to coeducation, but they could not graduate with a Dartmouth degree.
